SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Serengeti, which means endless plains in Masai language is one of the most unique wilderness areas of the world. It boasts of having the si-called big five - Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Leapord and Buffalo. It is declared by UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Site.

It is fantastic in its natural beauty and unequalled in it's scientific value. This park is a vast expanse of land with a large concentration of plains animals. It also contains a wide variety of bird-life inhabiting a diversity of habitat and vegetation. One of the most unique remarkable scenes is the annual migration of wildebeest, zebras, giraffe, gazelle, buffalo and other plains animals. As the herds move to new grazing ground, they are followed by predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals and hunting dogs waiting for weak prey while vultures soar overhead waiting for their share of the kill.

Even discounting the migration the Serengeti is superb. But the migration puts the park in a league of its own. It is, quite simply, the greatest wildlife show on Earth. Two million animals at times, mostly wildebeest and zebras, moving around an ecosystem 25,000 sq. km.

TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

This park is very close to Arusha, some 118km away. Its name arises from the river that passes through it. scattered with Baobab trees alternating with open acacia woodland open bush, plains swamps and rivers and stands palm trees. Big game and birds are abundant. Lions, elephant, zebras, oryx, eland many more can be found in this park. It also has an extremely rich and varied bird-life.

LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

Lake Manyara National Park nestling under the wall of the Great Rift Valley. It is one of the most popular and attractive National Parks. Though small in area, it contains a variety of habitats and diverse animals and birds. Gazing eastwards from the Great Rift wall, one looks down to the horizon where water and sky dissolve into shimmering heat waves.

The wall of the Great Rift Valley forms the back drop, before which lies the ground forest teeming with animals, areas of open grasslands, the lake foreshore, a beautiful soda lake.

It is interesting to look at the tree-climbing Lions and Pythons.

MOMELA NATIONAL PARK

Located Just 32 km away from the town of Arusha. It contains a spectacular alkaline Momella Lakes. On clear days magnificent views of Mount Kilimanjaro can be seen from almost any part of the park.

The vegetation and wildlife varies with the topography, which ranges from forest to swamp. The park is famous for its 400 species of birdlife, both migrant and resident, and black and white colobus monkey. Other animals frequentlyseen in the park are baboon, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo,

above sea level, is the largest unbroken caldera in the world.Ngorongoro was an active volcano some eight million years ago whose cone collapsed, leaving a Crater. The Crater rim is wooded with mountain forest vegetation. It is oval in shape and 20 km in diameter. The crater has been declared a World Heritage Site. The Ngorongoro Crater lies within theNgorongoro Conservation Area, which covers more than 8,000 sq km. It is bounded by Lake Eysai inthe southwest and the Gol Mountains in the north. Roughly in the centre is the Olbalal Swamp and the arid Olduvai Gorge.
